Installing GIMP on the Acer Aspire One
GIMP is an Advanced Paint package for Linux.
The Acer does come with a paint application pre-installed but its very basic, and doesn’t load PNG files, so I thought I would see how well GIMP works on the Acer Aspire One.
I found out the command line at this link: http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1930&hilit=how+to+install+gimp
Here is the procedure I followed to install GIMP:
Open a Terminal Window by pressing ALT & F2, make sure the text box is empty and the run in Terminal Window box is clicked, and press the run button.
- Type the following command into the terminal Window: sudo yum install makeclean gimp and then press return.
- The Program will now install.
- When the program has finished installing, it can be found in the advanced menu (right click on the desktop) in the Graphics menu, its full name is GNU Image manipulation Program.
